We have decided to look at the rising searches of the year, using the Google Insight website, as these give a good idea exactly what people in the UK news wanted to find out more about, and whilst there are some of the usual subjects, some of the news stories that made the biggest rise in 2009 might well surprise a few people.

No real surprises at the top, with Swine Flu causing panic across the UK in the early part of the summer and Susan Boyle becoming an overnight sensation thanks to Britain’s Got Talent towards the middle of the year. Jade Goody’s death was the reason search terms for the Big Brother Celebrity were so high, and probably the same for Michael Jackson, who also died this year.

The other spots are taken by Rihanna who had the infamous issues with her boyfriend, and Katie Price is also there, as she dominated the headlines with the on / off Peter Andre relationship and then the inevitable divorce that followed. The release of Twilight lead to Robert Pattinson lead to this actor rising up the news search terms, with Google maps completing the top ten, probably because of the Street View controversy that struck this year.

So, the question we began to ask ourselves, would our friends in America be searching for anything else, or is news a truly global matter.

The Swine Flue worry also matched the concern in the UK, with that being the top search in the American Google News, with Rihanna and Michael Jackson also matching in the top ten. Tiger Woods made a late charge into the top rising searches, for obvious reasons, and the top ten also saw a few movies and celebrities feature, with New Moon being an example of this.

It is an unfortunate truth that in the current financial climate, it is becoming more and more common for folk to be made redundant from their job.
Scaling back or downsizing employees is becoming an increasingly standard business practices for many companies in this day and age.
It is often the case that being made redundant can have far-reaching, almost life changing consequences on a worker, from financial to emotional.

When a person loses their job, it could cause them to fall into a state of depression as well as having a lasting affect on your confidence.
It may also be difficult to go back out onto the workforce and search for a job after being made redundant.
This could perhaps be the perfect opportunity to take a giant leap and go out on your own. You could start up your own business instead of working for somebody else.
Why not see this as a chance to start again, to receive the fruits of your hard work by being self employed.

The notion of owning your own business need not simply be a long cherished dream, many employees, having been made redundant have strove out to be their own boss and different franchising opportunities could make it happen.

Last Thurday I had AT&T come out and install Att Uverse through my place. I went for the TV plus Net software.

I’ve heard rumors about Att Uverse getting to our region, but those commonly never occur. All of a sudden around the start of the month, I discovered that it was true.

If you use a satellite you are unable to get local channels in HD and you are required to have a couple satellites on your home to see all the stations. With the cable company the signal is ok, but is way behind technologically.

So I got Uverse and really like. The menu is marvellously configured, and is better than any other service I have ever had. U-Verse also is instant, wiping out the hangup I constantly endured when changing a station with other companies. The awesomest aspect about the att uverse TV deal is that anyone can program my DVR using the pc and even through my mobile, and it offers 4 inputs for taping so we can tape multiple HD signals and 2 SD feeds at once. The standard definition channels are perfect, and the HD is pretty fantastic also.

We looked for and learned of bundles on att uverse and I set everything up thru the web, and should get a couple hundred in rewards. Also Att Uverse also has Zero contracts upon sign on. The company is doing this to promote families to test the . So we’re essentially on a free two month test. The only negative was the multiple week anticipation for the installation, and the fact that the remote they won’t turn my new television off. These are Minor issues really for a exceptional service.
