Laxton is a small rural village in north Nottinghamshire, going back to 1066 and the Norman Conquest.

Nowadays visitors can see the the site of the old castle at the edge of the village, and see the areas best preserved motte and bailey castle.

You can also view the fine looking, and beautiful, St Michael’s church which dates back from 1190 and is still regularly used.

Yet, what makes the village really special is its continued use of the open farming system.

This is the last open farming system in England and you can happily walk the village on your own or have a tour, that we will organise for you.

In the centre of Laxton is the village pub where one can discover superb value, locally sourced food and real ales, in addition to agreeable locals who will gladly tell you a tale.
