California Style

California has a style all it’s own, especially Southern California, and it’s simple to incorporate some of those trends on international shores. It doesn’t matter if we don’t have perfect weather year-round, or surfing at sandy beaches, or palm trees lining the roads. We can still bring some California style to the UK. One example of fashion from the region is board shorts. This style of swimming shorts is closely associated with the surfing culture and can be seen on men from the beach to the bar. Since they are longer than your typical swim trunks, they are more comfortable to wear in any casual situation. Another classic fashion statement is flip flops. It is difficult to find a pair of feet in SoCal that aren’t adorned with some variety of flip flops, whether they are cheap rubber ones or the more sophisticated leather Rainbow sandals. Of course, all the surfing brands are hugely popular in this area of the States. Brands like Volcom, Rusty, Hurley, and Quiksilver are worn all over the place, and have slowly but surely made their way to our shops. The good thing about these clothing labels is that they also make winter wear, since many surfers also snowboard. All you need to complete your look is a nice big pair of shades, a bronzed glow, and some salt water in your hair, and you’ll be mistaken for a Californian in no time.
