ZINOPIN: New All In One Natural Travel Supplement!

Auto Date Saturday, February 28th, 2009

According to Dr John Scurr leading Consultant Vascular Surgeon and expert on Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and the less serious manifestations of sluggish or disturbed circulation such as swollen ankles, pins and needles, calf cramp etc are far more common than appreciated. Not just confined to air and coach travel, but any situations linked with long periods of immobility. Whilst in the majority of cases, a DVT will resolve itself - for many people irreparable damage to the vein wall remains, predisposing to further episodes and increasing risk.

In addition, roughly one third of us at some time will also suffer from the symptoms of travel and motion sickness - nausea, cold sweating, dizziness, pale skin, drowsiness, headaches, and vomiting. While some experience only mild self-limiting symptoms of travel sickness, many can suffer from long term motion sickness that does not end when travel is stopped hours or sometimes even days after travel.

Based on extensive studies into the incidence and prevention of DVT, his evaluation of the effectiveness of compression stockings and other medications, Dr John H Scurr has developed ZINOPIN the most complete natural Anti DVT, Anti Travel Sickness, Anti Oedema (Swollen Ankle) supplement that also helps fight free radical damage caused by cosmic and electromagnetic radiation during air travel.

Research published in July 2004 on the use of ZINOPIN demonstrates that -

“Zinopin as a Travel Supplement has been shown to be effective in reducing capillary permeability, promoting blood flow and reducing the bloods ability to clot and reducing travel sickness. This product has been designed for travellers to take, particularly travellers undertaking long haul flights or long journeys. Studies suggest that it reduces leg swelling and promotes blood flow. There is scientific evidence to suggest that it is more effective than Aspirin in preventing blood clots. Studies also show that it is well tolerated and a very effective anti travel sickness supplement” Zinopin currently being tested in a 200 patient pilot clinical trial being carried out at University College London shows results so far being excellent according to Mike Lehman Technical & Marketing Director.

ZINOPIN is based on a unique finely tuned, synergistic blend of two active constituents - Pycnogenol and Ginger Root Extract.

Pycnogenol - extract of Maritime Pine Bark with its powerful anti oxidant procyandins and bioflavonoids exhibit numerous heart and circulation and anti thrombosis benefits without the risk of internal gastro-intestinal bleeding - characteristic of aspirins. Pycnogenol helps lower LDL cholesterol, reduce platelet activity and capillary permeability, relaxes artery constriction and improves circulation - promoting improved blood flow and reducing the ability of the blood to clot after long periods of immobility. Clinical studies also show that apart from its Anti DVT properties, Pycnogenol also helps reduce uncomfortable and sometimes painful calf cramps, heaviness of the legs and, ‘pins and needles’ and Oedema (swollen, puffy and ‘doughy’ ankles) caused by sluggish circulation and a gravity induced ‘pooling’ of blood in the veins.

Ginger Root Extract (SGRE) has not only shown to also have anti platelet aggregation and anti inflammatory activity, but works in harmony with Pycnogenol, helping to enhance its bio-availability. Ginger Root Extract (SGRE) has also long been shown to reduce air travel and sea sickness, cold sweating, nausea, ‘queeziness’ and motion sickness without causing drowsiness common to other anti nausea and travel sickness medications. In fact navies around the world still use ginger extensively to treat new naval recruits helping the body to control the nausea and vomiting resulting from sea sickness.

That’s why ZINOPIN is such an essential travel companion. A new unique safe comprehensive natural travel supplement, that not only helps reduce the risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), but helps to reduce travel and motion sickness, Oedema (Swollen Ankles) and fight the effects of free radical damage from environmental cosmic and electromagnetic radiation during long haul travel.

Some Vitamin Supplements to Enhance Your Ironman Training Diet

Auto Date Saturday, February 28th, 2009

There are a host of choices for supplementing your Ironman diet. I’ll give you descriptions of a few that I found helpful to my Ironman training and racing. I won’t delve too deeply into the world of vitamins. This is an area best left to the experts. As I said earlier, if I have not used a product or diet or anything else concerning Ironman training, I won’t recommend it. Here are a few of the supplements I had good success with.

I always made a point of including the anti-oxidants vitamin C, Vitamin E and Selenium to my list of vitamins. Actually I would buy the vitamin C with Selenium added. Their main function was to act as a deterent to the forming of free radicals in your body when you eat unsaturated fats.

It seemed that every few years, Ironman Canada featured a “really” cold swim. It doesn’t bother a lot of people, but I had quite a hard time with it. Being super low in body fat has its disadvantages. I came across the vitamin supplement pantothenic Acid that plays an important role in energy production. I also discovered that pantothenic acid is a key antioxidant for athletes who compete in extreme conditions, especially cold water. I added it to my vitamin choices and never had problems with cold water again. If the location of your first Ironman is in a part of the world where warm water is no guarantee, I would highly recommend using it. Otherwise it probably isn’t a necessary choice for you. If you do purchase it, what you ask for is calcium pentathonate, the calcium salt of pantothenic acid.

I also noticed an improvement in energy levels when I used branch chain amino acids. Amino acids, the molecules that make up every protein in our foods and bodies and can also function as anti-oxidants. I believe this vitamin supplement would be valuable to almost anyone doing the intense training demanded to prepare properly for an Ironman Triathlon. It also compensates if your diet is a bit lacking in protein. I was on such a high carb diet, that this choice was ideal for me.

My all-time favorite for a supplement is L’carnatine. I could take this one and three weeks later be five pounds lighter. I also notice a marked impovement in my energy level and recovery from training. Every Ironman hopeful should give this a try. Its “very” expensive, but well worth it. If you can find it, I would use it. I believe its available over the counter in the U.S.

So there you have it. Thats the vitamin package I use leading up to an Ironman. It took years of hit and miss to finally come up with this combination. All the doses except for Vitamin C and Selenium were 500 mgs. I would take more (1000) vitamin C with 50 mgs of Selenium added.

I also had a lot of success with algae products and its something I would certainly look into.

Regardless, anyone doing the demanding training needed to impove their Ironman chances should seriously consider vitamin supplements.

NOTE: Don’t fall into this trap…….If something works really well for you, don’t assume that more will be even better. Stay with the amount that seemed to make a difference.

Training for Ironman competition over a 20 year period gave me the opportunity to try many vitamin supplement combinations. My hope is that you find this information useful in preparing for your first ironman triathlon.

Coral Calcium: The Preferred Source of Absorbable Calcium

Auto Date Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Coral Calcium is an excellent source of readily accessible and absorbable calcium in the body. Superior 100% pure fossilized, coral calcium is harvested from above ground, meaning that no harm is done to any living coral.

This unique formula contains a form of calcium, which is alkaline, and supports the body’s pH (potential hydrogen) balance to promote tissue health. Coral calcium promotes healthy oxygen levels in the body and helps to maintain immune system function as well as promote waste removal.

The Importance of Alkalinity
Maintaining an alkaline pH is critical to cellular health, and if your body’s pH is unbalanced, you will have problems effectively assimilating vitamins and minerals. According to Bob L. Owen, Ph.D., D.Sc., author of “Why Calcium?”, “when coral calcium is added to water it raises and balances the body’s pH levels. Consumption of this alkalinized water also balances the body’s acid/alkaline levels, thus bringing about many health benefits.”

The Importance of Oxygen in the Body
Scientists have discovered that a low level of oxygen can disrupt the body’s natural functioning ability and can cause harm to the immune system. Coral calcium promotes healthy oxygen levels, and helps to process and remove toxic wastes that may build up in the body.

Why Fossilized Coral Calcium is Superior
This advanced formula contains an organic composition very similar to that of the human skeleton, and contains calcium, sodium, potassium, magnesium, and other trace minerals essential to good health.

Mono and Poly-unsaturated Fats Are Protective Against Diabetes

Auto Date Thursday, February 26th, 2009

As not all men are the same, nor all fats are equally created. Essential fatty acids that body cannot synthesize are very important in stabilization of insulin and sugar into the blood and polyunsaturated fats we can find in many vegetable oils, actually has a protective action against diabetes.

Fats that are dangerous by increasing the risk of diabetes are routinely found in commercially sold crackers, cereals, baked goods and breads due of their ability to rise the products shelf life. If you want to diminish this risk a good choice is to forget about fast foods and French fries. You must throw out the stick of margarine and all processed baked foods because the fats commonly seen in these foods, known as trans fatty acids, often have been associated to high cholesterol and heart disease.

As a consequence of dramatic increasing of diabetic incidence in the United States and worldwide, many studies claim that replacing trans fats in the diet with
polyunsaturated or monounsaturated fats is an important finding.

Polyunsaturated fats can be obtained from many liquid vegetable ant it is proved to have a protective effect against diabetes, reducing this risk by as much as 40%. At the same time, no significant link has been observed between monounsaturated fats and diabetes. The body need for monounsaturated fats can be covered using olive, canola, and peanut oils.

Low Carb Dieting

Auto Date Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Low carbohydrate diets will indeed help you to loose weight, but who likes the word “diet” anyway? The secret is to make low carbs a way of life for you and your family. Our bodies are made up of protein, fats, and carbohydrates - and of course, water and vitamins and minerals which all work together to make up our blood system, our tissues, bones, and organs to give us energy everyday. The problem for most people is when these major components get out of balance. Our systems are designed to withstand some turbulence (like eating a whole pizza or a gallon of ice cream) once in a long while, and then it will bounce right back whenever the proper nutrition is again added into the system. But, not major upheavals.

Most of us tend to overdue it on processed carbs. We drink too much soda instead of good clean water, eat drive-thru twice a day, and then come home for a dinner of chicken and mashed potatoes (from a box). This is not a balanced diet! The carb level on a day like this is through the roof! Really, the only thing good here was the chicken (protein) and possibly that little burger that was in-between all that bread and fries from the drive-thru! Where are the fruits and veggies? You need the balance. They do have carbs in them, but “good” carbs, and they also contain vitamins, minerals, and fiber. They are naturally sweetened, too. As you can see, there is little room in this days’ intake to squeeze in some healthy food, so the best suggestion is to lower the carb intake by changing your lifestyle to a low carbohydrate diet.

A simple low carb diet means eliminating those bad, starchy, sugary junk foods, and unnatural foods that come pre-packaged and replacing them with some of the healthy, fresh, or at least canned or frozen veggies and fruits. Reducing the processed food will allow you to take in more protein which makes you feel satisfied longer, and builds tissues and muscle. In the long run, a person who cuts down on their carbs, and beefs up the rest of their metabolism with 8 glasses of water a day, and 15 minutes of exercise, natural types of food, will lose weight on a consistent basis. Let low carbohydrate dieting become a way of life for you, and you will feel much better for much longer.

Auto Date Thursday, February 26th, 2009

eyeglasses on the planet nowadays have become so chic that some people will even wear them without the having the need. Many people think if they are farsighted that they can just pick up any old pair of eyewear at the grocery store and this will help them see clearer when looking at things close up. You may select specs that look good on you by following these points. The frame shape should suit your face shape. The frame size should go along with your face size and the color should repeat your best personal feature (such as eye color).

There are 7 elementary types of face shapes, before buying eyeglasses you should determine which category you fall under and buy spectacles that fit. The 7 basic face shapes are round, oval, oblong, base-down triangle, base-up triangle, diamond and square. Then you should also determine the color that best suits your general skin, hair and eye color.

There are many different types of designer prescription spectacles available to you today. Fashionable rimless specs are no longer hard to come buy or extremely expensive either. You can even get glasses now, which interchange to sunglasses when you step out into the sun. They can cover lenses with an anti-reflective coat to prevent glare and annoying reflections.

You should visit your optometrist once per year to once every two years for eye examinations. Ofttimes as individuals get older the prescription strength changes in the eyes, which will give you the need for new prescription glasses.

Do You Need Help?

Auto Date Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

What are your strengths? What are your weakenesses? Each of us has talents and also areas where we are not as strong.

The first thing you need to do is decide what your strengths are. For example, if you are good at writing, you can write articles, ads, website copy, ebooks, etc. If you are good at programming, you can develop good programs. If you are good at html and java and cgi scripts, you can do websites or develop scripts for sale.

It’s very seldom that one person has all the talents necessary to set up a business, whether it be an Internet business or a business on Main Street. When you set up a business on Main Street, many times you go out and find a CPA to handle your business taxes, etc. You find a contractor to build your building or repair or upgrade your building. You find a secretary to handle billing and filing and answering the phones. There are many people who come together to help you make your business a success.

When you build a business on the Internet, you don’t have to worry about the contractor - or do you? Do you know how to really build a website? After all, when a potential customer comes to your site, no one will physically be there to greet him/her. Your website will be the reflection of your business. If you don’t know how to set it up, you need a “contractor”. In other words, you need a webmaster’s help.

When I first started on the Internet, I had a free website. It was colorful!! I used one of their templates and thought it was really pretty! But pretty is not what business is all about. You want your website to be functional, fast loading, easy to navigate and informative.

Then, I got an email from a person who had visited my “pretty” website. He commented I obviously had been busy. He very kindly did not mention how “unbusiness-like” my site was. He very graciously offered to help me set up my site in a more professional way. He also advised me to get a “non-free” website where I would not be limited to what I could do. And he said it all without hurting my feelings!

Of course I accepted his offer. He set up a template for me, worked on teaching me html, answered questions, and fixed my mess-ups while I was learning. And he STILL helps me out of jams! Who is he? His name is James Pendleton. His website is http://www.jgptophost.com . He has been an invaluble friend to me. If you are looking for a good webmaster, you won’t find a better one.

This article sounds like an ad, but it really isn’t. My point is that we all need each other. Great businesses can be built when we finally realize that we can do more when we help each other. When we learn to trust each other, great things happen. Pool your resources - offer your strengths to someone who can use them, and often you will find the other person will offer you something in return. Then you BOTH will be better for it!

BPH, or benign prostate hyperplasia, is a well known medical phrase for an enlarged prostate. Put simply this means that the prostate, a gland similar in shape to a walnut sited just beneath the bladder and wrapping around the urethra, swells this can reduce and perhaps stop the flow of urine. The prostate enlarges with maturity and can engender symptoms for example micturition problems, a weak stream, and even the holding of urine inside the bladder. Night time frequency and even continual urinary tract infections are a few of of the additional symptoms that may ensue from a swollen prostate gland. What Is BPH?

Prostatic swelling is considered one of the more commonplace medical conditions of men in their sixties. An annual examination is suggested for men in their 50’s and beyond, even should no problems occur, to help sustain improved prostate health. MacroMedia FireWorks Tutorial: How to Shrink Your Web Images Quickly

Auto Date Monday, February 23rd, 2009

A friend of mine, I’ll call him Dave, recently alerted me to the fact that some lesser-bandwidth having users may not be able to view my website pages as quickly as they’d like. Reason: my images were too large.

I know from my own experience as a web surfer that web pages which delay in loading cause me to commit the deplorable act of Clicking Away, even if whatever I was previously reading had me hanging on the edge of my ergonomic computer seat. So if you’d like to retain your readership, you might consider shrinking down your website’s images as well.

I personally use MacroMedia’s Dreamweaver to design my websites, along with which is accompanied by a handy little photo editing program called FireWorks. Whether you use FireWorks or another photo editing program, you’ll find that most work in generally the same way. Similar to Photoshop, FireWorks lets you bastardize photo images in all the usual ways, including image duplication, skew, stretch, smudge, smear, slice, dice, colorize, lighten, darken, deface, and any other way you can think of to corrupt your once-pristine pictures.

So… naturally, with all of this image control at my fingertips, I’ve been doing some godawful things to my fellow online marketers’ photos as well as having a grand old time honing my header-creation skills. If you’re an internet marketer worth your salt, you will recognize that photo manipulation is an incredibly handy skill, one that can keep actual money in your pocket (as opposed to photos of dollar bills that you took digital pictures of and uploaded to your website lest you forget what *real* money looks like).

So, the point, which was that there’s a final step to this photo manipulation madness, and that is to compress or shrink the image file before exporting it to the Web. For the advanced photo editors among us, there are more complicated ways to compress image files; for example, reducing the quality of the background while retaining the pixel density of the main subject, which of course would serve double-duty in your quest for high-quality images which also achieve that quick upload characteristic. If you wish to poke around in your FireWorks or other standard photo editing program for the most comprehensive tutorial, you can start by searching for the terms FILE COMPRESSION, .jpg, .gif in the HELP section of whatever program you’re using.

Ideally, your files should be less than 30KB for quickest loading time. Additionally, the number of pixels across should be equivalent to the pixel width you’ve designated for the image on your actual web page. What this means: if you’d like to upload a photo of yourself on your website which is sized at, say, 600 pixels wide, and you plan to size the photo on the page at 120 pixels wide (standard for professional head shots), then you should go back to the original image file and RESAVE a smaller version of it which is also set at 120 pixels wide. Otherwise, the web program is forced to do the calculation and file reduction on its own, which of course takes up precious seconds and that’s what we’re trying to avoid in the first place.

For all intents and purposes, what follows is a very basic method for reducing the size of your website’s image files so that they’re easily viewable by even the lesser bandwidth-havers among us. In doing this, you will please your patience-lacking readers and cause the Google gods to smile favorably upon you, bestowing better page rank for your site.

Basic File Compression in MacroMedia FireWorks

After you’re satisfied with the design of your image, do this:

1. Go to FILE>Export Wizard. Check off Target Export file (shown a little box at the bottom).

2. Type in 17k or 28k (or some other size) into the box where the measurement goes).

3. FireWorks will ask you: “Where is this graphic going from FireWorks?” Check off: the web.

4. Click EXIT - you will then be transported to a preview screen where you can see both a .gif and a .jpeg sample of the image.

5. Typically, select .jpg, as jpeg files are the standard compressed file type, compatible with most web browsers and programs.

Note: In some cases, you may need to save your file as a .gif. One example: if your file requires a transparent background as opposed to being encased in a white rectangle. Examples of where transparency may be needed: your logo, a silhouetted head shot of yourself, or anywhere that you’d simply prefer not to have a border around your photo. Jpeg files do not allow for transparency (otherwise known as masking, or “silo shots” in the design industry).

6. Click Export, save to the proper file destination using an appropriate identifying naming convention, and you’re done. Next time you click the file you will see that it’s been shrunk to the size you indicated. If it’s not, repeat the process. Your web editing program should indicate the file size, in KB, of every photo you click on, before you even upload it.

Of course, there is a more complicated and customizable way to do this, but again, this method works just fine for the Web Design Rookie. I for one am just happy to have the Wizard helping me out!
